Are we green?

One is sometimes asked if we are doing our small part to save the earth, so here are the answers.

Business Policies

We order all electronic statements and trade confirms from our brokers, Interactive Bokers and TD Ameritrade Institutional. This saves paper. My office is in a loft above my residence, so I walk upstairs to work. No carbon commuting emissions. One's most precious commodity is one's time, so this policy also gives me more productive hours in the day.

Investment Policies

We make every attempt to favor investments which help the earth, or are at least carbon neutral.   I am closely monitoring the nascent market for trading carbon energy credits.   Providing liquidty here would be the cleanest, greenest investment.   So far, they seem to trade by appointment.

Our investments include and have included Cree Research, which is receiving orders to replace millions of incandescent and flourescent lights with LED's in government offices nationwide.

Personal Life

To get down to the nitty gritty, though I have been low-key about it , my personal life is also green.   For 35 years I've enjoyed a vegetarian diet, which according to some experts, and as this chart suggests, is the single most effective change one can make in one's personal life to save the planet.

Green?   Yes.
